Illinois state Rep. Chris Miller (R-Oakland) does not mince words when describing how he feels about the impeachment proceedings.
“It’s the biggest scam perpetrated on the American people in my lifetime,” Miller told the East Central Reporter. “The whole thing is just Kabuki Theatre, not to mention the biggest waste of taxpayer time and money ever. It’s just a snapshot of the radical left and how they don’t care about anything except obstructing anything Trump tries to do.”
Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives formally moved last week to impeach President Donald J. Trump on articles alleging abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Miller, while agitated by the distraction, is confident the whole ordeal will have a sensible resolution.

“Trump will be exonerated because there’s not one witness who can definitely say he did anything wrong,” Miller said. “After that, he’ll be reelected and we’ll have four more years of prosperity and of making America great.”
Since the passing of the articles, several media outlets have reported that Democratic leaders are now considering a delay before turning over their findings to the Senate to formally kick off trial proceedings. Miller argues that it’s easy to understand why they would make such a move after pushing for months to get to this point.
“They know they don’t really have a case,” Miller said. “Beyond that, they’re like little children fighting over a toy and when they finally grab hold, it goes straight to the corner because they they’re bored now and really don’t know what to do with it.”
Miller says there are numerous things lawmakers should be working toward instead of nonsensical impeachment proceedings.
“We need to be working on our health care system, reducing government waste, fraud and abuse,” he said. “Instead, Democrats are more concerned with winning an argument that everything points to them having no chance of winning.”
