2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Shelby County?

There were 29 offenders released on parole during 2018 that live in Shelby County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by East Central Reporter.

The data shows that 22 men and seven women were released in Shelby County. Of the parolees, one was a veteran, and the median age was 36. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017, and the oldest was a 58-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2011.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Valerie Y. Devore. She was convicted of homicide in 2001 when she was 30 years old. She is now 47.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
