Former state university employee Sego paid in $53K to pension fund, could collect $759K in retirement

Former state university employee Anita Sego, who retired in September 2016, saved $53,027 toward a pension over 16 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Sego would collect as much as $758,647, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes East Central Reporter.

The projection assumes Sego received $15,946 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Sego will have already received $66,712 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
