Report: 23.1% of Southwestern Illinois College students repaying loans are in default

Out of 2,169 Southwestern Illinois College students repaying loans in 2015, 503 were in default, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

That gives the two-year public school in Belleville a default rate of 23.1 percent for that year – 0.9 percentage points lower than in 2014 and 1.9 points lower than in 2013.

Southwestern Illinois College had 3 fewer students in default in 2015 than in 2014 and 11 more than in 2013.
