Neoga Community Unit School District 3 students suspended 40 times in a single school year

Neoga Community Unit School District 3 reported 40 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 40 students during the year. That equates to 7 percent of the 575 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 13 incidents. There were one incidents of a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. For 14 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 14 incidents. There were seven incidents of tobacco. For 26 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
