Oblong Community Unit School District 4 students suspended 10 times in a single school year

Oblong Community Unit School District 4 reported 10 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 10 students during the year. That equates to 1.7 percent of the 586 students enrolled.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes three incidents. There were two incidents of a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. For four incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for alcohol. The category includes three incidents. There were one incidents of violence without physical injury. For two incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
