52 percent of applicants to Eastern Illinois University were admitted for fall 2017

At Eastern Illinois University, 87 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 60 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Charleston enrolled 7,030 students in fall 2017, including 5,568 in undergraduate and 1,462 in graduate programs, data shows. 10.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

87 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 10 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (63 percent) and Black or African American (18 percent).

The school admitted 52 percent of the 6,965 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 18 percent enrolled.
