HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital issued the following announcement on June 29.
Mark your calendars! On Thursday, July 6, GO! 217 will present a special, free workout. All participants will be given free glow-in-the-dark bracelets for one hour of glow-in-the-dark Zumba.
This dance workout will be held Thursday, July 5 at the Shelby County Senior Center in Forest Park at 7 p.m. All ages are encouraged to come. The dance-style workout is designed for everyone and all skill levels. Registration is not required. Bring a friend and don’t forget your drink – hydration is important!
Get your free GO! 217 punch card by attending your first class. With each class you attend, you will receive a punch on your card. After five punches, you will earn a free GO! 217 tank top or t-shirt. If you are already a “regular”, bring a friend who has never come before and get an extra punch on your card.
“We want to use GO! 217 to help people achieve their optimal fitness. July’s workout will feature the zumba which will help you lose weight, one step at a time,” Tonya Bowrey, HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital rehabilitation services and wellness manager, said. “Come join us for a fun and dynamic evening.”
The goal of GO! 217 is to keep our community moving and improve the overall health of everyone who lives in the 217-area code. This program is geared toward the cities where our Hospital Sisters Health System Central Illinois hospitals are located – Springfield, Decatur, Litchfield and Shelbyville. Free workouts will regularly be held on the first Thursday of each month in each of our HSHS central Illinois communities.
GO! 217 partners include HSHS St. John’s Hospital, the Springfield Park District, FitClub, Scheels, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, HSHS St. Francis Hospital, FIT-to-GO in Litchfield, and the Shelby County Senior Center in Shelbyville.
