Casey FPD responds to 13 fires in 2017

Casey Fire Protection District responded to 15 calls in 2017 - 42.3 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Casey included 13 fires - three structure fires, four vehicle fires and six other fires.

In all, the department saw $1,053,000 in fire loss - or about $81,000 per fire.

The department also received two false calls, including one malicious call and one other false calls.

The Fairview/Caseyville FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has three active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $91,201 in debt as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $5,365 for every fire in 2016.
