Each recipient receives a $500 scholarship to be used toward their education. The Auxiliary Scholarship Committee chose three individuals based on their applications, essays, and letters of recommendation. The 2018 recipients are:

  • Danielle Gullett (Beecher City High School): Gullett plans to attend Lake Land College in Mattoon, to ultimately pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Elizabeth Feldhake (Dieterich High School): Feldhake will be attending Kaskaskia Community College in Centralia to obtain certification in x-ray technology/sonography.
  • Jamie Lawrence (Beecher City High School): Lawrence plans to attend Lake Land College in Mattoon, seeking a degree to become a physical therapist assistant.
The Auxiliary was founded in 1956 by a group of women who wanted to help patients of St. Anthony’s hospital. Since that time, the men and women of the HSHS St Anthony’s Auxiliary have recorded over 500,000 volunteer hours, sharing in the hospital’s Mission.
