Graduates earn 2,672 degrees, certificates from Southwestern Illinois College

About 21.8 percent of the 2,672 degrees and certificates handed out by the Southwestern Illinois College in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Belleville conferred 389 certificates and 193 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies. Data shows the school gave out 397 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies, followed by 276 associate's degrees in Biological and Physical Sciences and 211 certificates in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide.

The college enrolled 9,515 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
