Report: Shelbyville spent $8,858 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Shelbyville Community Unit School District 4 is up 11 percent from five years ago, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Shelby County school district spent $7,956 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,858 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1245 to 1195.

Shelbyville's spending in 2016-17 was 32 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
