Report: Effingham spent $8,354 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Effingham Community Unit School District 40 is down 7 percent from five years ago, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Effingham County school district spent $8,941 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,354 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2747 to 2565.

Effingham's spending in 2016-17 was 36 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
