Report: Oblong spent $9,947 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Oblong Community Unit School District 4 is down 9 percent from five years ago, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Crawford County school district spent $10,947 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,947 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 604 to 586.

Oblong's spending in 2016-17 was 23 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
