Report: Cowden Herrick spent $9,151 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Cowden Herrick Community Unit School District 3A is down 4 percent from five years ago, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Shelby County school district spent $9,567 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,151 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 430 to 409.

Cowden Herrick's spending in 2016-17 was 29 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
