CARLE RICHLAND MEMORIAL HOSPITAL: Welcomes General Surgeon

Doctor(1000)

Carle Richland Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on May 1.

Carle Richland Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the recent addition of General Surgeon, Phillip Rosett, M.D. to its team. Dr. Rosett joins Dr. Stephen Reid and Dr. Paul Sutherland in delivering surgical care of the highest quality to the area.

Dr. Rosett is from the Chicago area and completed medical school at Chicago Medical School, followed by his Residency at Cook County Hospital. He most recently practiced General Surgery in Southwest Indiana.

When he was in medical school his mentor was a Pediatrician, so until his last rotation, he thought that was going to be his specialty. After his surgical rotation, however, he immediately knew he wanted to be a surgeon.

“I liked being able to see immediate results from a procedure I performed that helped a patient get better. It was the satisfaction of curing people that drew me in,” says Rosett

After Cook County Hospital, he went into private practice and became a pioneer in laparoscopic surgeries in the United States. He has taught numerous surgeons how to perform laparoscopic procedures.

Not only is Dr. Rosett skilled in performing laparoscopic surgeries, he is also a founding member of the International Hernia Collaboration, which is made up of more than 5,000 members worldwide. He regularly presents at their meetings and is very involved in the organization.

“I look forward to offering my patients a full array of minimally invasive procedures. I have also had extensive experience in performing bariatric (weight loss) procedures, and am very interested in exploring the possibility of a program here. I’m also hoping to expand treatment options for heartburn without using medications that often have side effects,” says Rosett.

Dr. Rosett is looking forward to working in this area. He knew Dr. Reid previously and had heard many positive things about Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

“I liked the idea of working in a small but comprehensive facility that has a strong reputation in the community. People have a choice when it comes to their care. I enjoy getting to know my patients and having good relationships with them,” says Rosett.

Some of Dr. Rosett’s areas of interest include laparoscopic gallbladder, hernia, appendix and colon and bowel procedures, in addition to breast surgeries. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Member of the Chicago Surgical Society, American Hernia Society and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.

To make an appointment with Dr. Rosett, contact the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital General Surgery Clinic at 618-395-6032.
