Robinson Community Unit School District 2 Board met February 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Inboden called the February regular board meeting to order at 7pm. After pledge and roll call, Inboden welcomed all attending.

Consent Agenda:

A motion was made by Bachelor and seconded by Brown to approve the consent agenda (including prior minutes on January 16, 2018, Closed Meeting minutes on January 16, 2018, February bilis payable, treasurer's report, employee attendance report, and student attendance report). Roll call vote: Yeas - Meeks, Bachelor, Brown, Stone, Sandiford, Shew, and Inboden. Nays – none. Motion carried.

By consent motion, the Board approved the proposed 2018-2019 school calendar.

Unit #2 District Updates/ Public Comment:

Janna Surrells, CUTEA Co-Chairman, thanked the Board for all of the safety changes that have been incorporated at our schools. CUTEA is very much interested in helping the Board with further school safety endeavors. Superintendent Quick told the Board that a Safety Committee will be held on

Monday, February 26 at 4:15pm to discuss safety issues. RHS Principal, Victoria McDonald, told the Board that a video is being prepared and will be shown to RHS students concerning the safety practices at RHS.

Kirk Rardin, LGS PE Teacher, spoke to the Board about the Hockey Program at Lincoln Grade School. The program is led by Ryan Reynolds, Reggie Truitt, Jared

Wampler, and Kirk Rardin. Approximately 190 students participate in the hockey program at no cost to the child. Mr. Rardin then presented a video depicting some of the activities of the Hockey Program.

Old Business:

None.

New Business:

A motion was made by Sandiford and seconded by Stone to approve a resolution to transfer funds from the Education Fund to Debt Service. Roll call vote: Yeas - Shew, Bachelor, Meeks, Brown, Sandiford, Stone, and Inboden. Nays - none.

Motion carried.

A motion was made by Meeks and seconded by Brown to approve the disposal of Bus #52 that is not drivable. The bus is in need of a complete engine overhaul. Roll call vote: Yeas – Stone, Shew, Meeks, Bachelor, Brown, Sandiford, and Inboden. Nays - none. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Sandiford and seconded by Bachelor to approve the disposal of surplus equipment currently housed at the South Jackson Street Property. Roll call vote: Yeas - Brown, Sandiford, Stone, Shew, Meeks, Bachelor, and Inboden. Nays - none. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Sandiford and seconded by Stone to approve the participation in a joint grant application for the 0-3 Prevention Initiative Grant. Roll call vote: Yeas - Brown, Sandiford, Stone, Shew, Meeks, Bachelor, and Inboden. Nays – none. Motion carried.

Superintendent Notes:

Superintendent Quick updated the Board on the following topics:

• Moisture readings are still being taken on a regular basis for the RHS gym floor.

• A Resolution will be proposed at the March Board meeting concerning the South Jackson Street Property. Committee Meetings

1. Building and Ground Committee - February 22, 2018

2. Safety Committee Meeting - February 26, 2018

3. Add Back Committee – To be scheduled in near future

• Procedures are in place for Threat Assessment Evaluations. Resource Officer, Eric Schmidt, does home visits for the assessment process.

Administrator's Reports:

RHS Principal, Victoria McDonald, and Assistant Principal, Bob Coffman told the Board:

• Julia Gallion, 10th grade, placed 6th in the State Voice of Democracy Essay Contest.

• WYSE Team dominated the Regional Competition.

• 5 RHS wrestlers went on to compete at the State level.

•Alex Herman, RHS 125 grader, was named to the All- Academic Team.

• 4800 cans of food were collected for the local food pantries.

• Mrs. Smith's cancer treatments are now finished. RHS applauds her long and successful journey.

•RHS will be hosting the Boys Basketball Sectional Tournament.

•RHS Scholastic Bowl is ranked #1 and RHS will be hosting the Regional and Sectional Competition.

At 7:30pm, a motion to adjourn to closed session to discuss personnel was made by Bachelor and seconded by Shew. Roll call vote: Yeas- Sandiford, Stone, Shew,

Meeks, Bachelor, Brown, and Inboden. Nays – none. Motion carried.

At 9:45 pm, the Board returned to open session. A motion was made by Meeks and seconded by Bachelor. Roll call vote: Yeas- Bachelor, Stone, Shew, Brown, Sandiford, Meeks, and Inboden. Nays – none. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Stone and seconded by Shew to hire Casey Pinnell for the positions of WES Physical Education Teacher and the RHS Head Football Coach for the 2018-2019 School Year. Roll call vote: Yeas- Bachelor, Stone, Shew, and Inboden. Nays - Meeks, Brown, and Sandiford. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Shew and seconded by Bachelor to hire the following personnel:

•Lori Treadway - LGS After-school Tutor

•Terry Inboden – LGS After-school Tutor

•Lori Favata - LGS After-school Tutor

•Kristine Tuel – LGS After-school Tutor

•Stephanie Dean - LGS After-school Tutor

•Tarita Siler - LGS After-school Tutor

•Denise Wells – LGS Reading Aide

•Casey Pinnell – WES Physical Education Teacher – Effective 8/15/2018

•Casey Pinnell – Head Football Coach - 2018-2019

• Teresa Gower – LGS Third Grade Teacher – 2018-2019

• Rick Garrard – LGS Head Custodian – Effective June 1, 2018

Leave of Absence:

Contract:

•Extension of RHS Assistant Principal, Bob Coffman's contract for July1, 2018 until June 30, 2020.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Shew and seconded by Bachelor. Roll call vote: Yeas- Bachelor, Stone, Shew, Brown, Sandiford, Meeks, and Inboden. Nays – none. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 9:50pm.

The next regular school board meeting will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Robinson District Office.
