Republican Chris Miller of Oakland, who is running for the 110th District House seat, is among the many candidates across Illinois who are criticizing the passage last fall of a state budget that will bring a 32 percent increase in taxes.
His concerns also revolve around the idea that establishment politics haven't worked out, and that some of Illinois' fiscal woes are due to actions by the legislature, which was scheduled to meet only 20 days during the spring session.
In a recent Facebook post, Miller, who will run against Democrat Shirley Bell in the November general election, articulated some of his disappointment with what's happening in the legislature.
"Let's hope that lack of session days does not lead us to another budget standoff," Miller wrote. "(House) Speaker (Mike) Madigan sure has caused a mess of our beautiful state and I want it cleaned up!"
Miller has also weighed in on his goals and his plan to change Illinois government.
"I’m running to fight for our conservative family values in Springfield," Miller said in a recent release that described his campaign as getting a lot of momentum in the district. He also spoke about the support he is getting from the community and how it inspires him to put the people first.
Now, anticipating a hard-fought election season, Miller and his team are putting together local events and making sure everyone knows that when it comes to representation, District 110 has a choice.
