Arcola School District #306 Board of Education Building Committee met Nov. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Present: Tom Mulligan, Superintendent; Ken Vogt, Head of Maintenance, Board Members: Jim Crane, Dr. Robert Arrol, Lucas Shonkwiler, Erica Thieman and Sue Stout; Visitors – Brent Castle – Musco Lighting and Mike Zellers, Graham and Hyde Architects

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. The following were the topics and relevant information discussed at the meeting.

Football Lights – the committee heard a presentation from Musco Lighting regarding the football field lights. Dr. Mulligan also discussed a bid process called National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA). This is a national bid process where Musco was awarded the bid for football lights. The committee decided to do a couple of site visits and move forward.

Internal vs. External Projects – Dr. Mulligan and Ken Vogt presented two groups of projects. One was a group of projects that they felt the district maintenance staff could handle internally. The second was a group of projects that they felt needed architect assistance. Mike Zellers talked with Board through several projects.

All Purpose Room Floor – Dr. Mulligan updated the committee on the status with the floor. He discussed the recommendations from Stalker flooring and Ken Vogt provided his input on those recommendations. Dr. Mulligan said he would forward the report from Stalker Flooring when he receives it.

Lead Testing – the committee discussed the recent results on lead testing from the state required test. Dr. Mulligan said the maintenance staff and a certified plumber are planning to change out some older plumbing fixtures to lower the lead content in a few places across the district. He also provided the committee with information regarding required notifications and a timeline for notification.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm
