Arcola City Council met October 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Mayor Ferguson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Ferguson, Guyot, Huckstep, Smith and Hensley. City Administrator Wagoner and Treasurer Anderson were also present. Alderman Foran and Attorney Bequette were not present.

Pledge of Allegiance Alderwoman Ferguson led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Public Comment There was none.

Approval of September 18, 2017 Council Meeting Minutes Alderwoman Huckstep moved to approve the September 18, 2017 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderwoman Ferguson. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Approval of September 16 – September 29, 2017 Bills Alderman Smith moved to approve the September 16 – September 29, 2017 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Approval of the Treasurer’s Report for September Alderman Smith moved to approve the Treasurer’s report for September and was seconded by Alderwoman Huckstep. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Approval of the September Zoning Officer’s Report The Zoning Officer reported 2 permits issued in the month of September with valuation of $2,400 and fees collected in amount of $25. Alderman Smith moved to approve the September Zoning Officer’s report as presented and was seconded by Alderwoman Huckstep. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Report from the Planning Commission The Planning Commission met September 18, 2017, reviewed and recommended the council approve the following:

Request from Justin Yoder to convert single family home located at 426 E. Washington into a duplex.

Alderwoman Huckstep moved to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Request from Okaw Farmers Co-operative Inc. to construct 30ft. free standing tower at 112 W. Springfield.

Request from Okaw Farmers Co-operative Inc. to construct 30 ft. free standing tower at 324 S. Chestnut.

Alderwoman Huckstep moved to accept the recommendation of both requests and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Report from the TIF Advisory Committee The TIF Advisory Committee met September 27, 2017, reviewed and recommended the council approve a request from Restaurants Unlimited, located at 547 E. Springfield Rd for a Storefront Rebate (50%) for the repainting of the Hen House Restaurant and replacing of some boards.

Alderwoman moved to accept the recommendation of the TIF Advisory Committee and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Committee Reports:

Alderwoman Ferguson Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Guyot Had nothing at this time.

Alderwoman Huckstep Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Smith Stated the police dept. did super work in solving the armed robbery.

Alderman Hensley Had nothing at this time.

The Mayor reminded everyone that Arcola is hosting the CIMOA meeting on Oct. 19th.

As this concluded the business of the meeting Alderwoman Huckstep moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Council approved unanimously by voice vote.

Adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
