Jasper County might say it rejected an ATV resolution in July, but the truth is, the measure passed, according to the Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW).
A board member who could not attend the meeting voted "no" via phone to the resolution to allow ATV vehicles to operate on county roads, but the ECW claims the phone-in vote is illegal according and should not have been counted.
The ECW also alleged that Jasper County State’s Attorney Chad Miller did not provide the county board with legal directions and has a record of disregarding the law. The group is urging county residents to contact the Attorney General’s Public Access Counselor or go through the circuit court in order to confirm that the ATV ordinance actually passed because the vote was 6-5 in favor before the allegedly lllegal vote by phone.
