Arcola School District #306 Board of Education met April 5.
Here is the minutes as provided by the Board:
Present: Tom Mulligan, Superintendent; Ken Vogt, Head of Maintenance, Board Members: Jim
Crane, Dr. Robert Arrol, Sue Stout, Ginger Kielhorn and Erica Thieman; Visitors: Mark Graves,
Dave Ortmann, and John Lorainne from CTS.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm. The following were the topics discussed at the
meeting and relevant information.
All Purpose Room Floor – CTS presented new information on cleaning and sealing the allpurpose
room floor in the elementary school. The committee agreed that CTS would purchase
the cleaning products and provide labor to clean. If the cleaning works, the next decision will be
whether or not the district wants clean and seal the entire floor or whether to consider installation
of a new top coat of a darker color. The committee also agreed to pay $60,000 of the $82,000
still owed to CTS.
JH Roof Bid – the committee reviewed the roof bids and will be recommending the low base bid
plus the alternate bid 1 to the full board for approval.
HVAC Project – Ken Vogt updated the committee on the progress of the project. He also
discussed some changes to the approach for the roof and also two proposals he has received
regarding fixing the window panels when the air conditioners are removed.
Other – the committee also had some discussion on possible parking lot improvements, visitor
bleachers and football field light replacement.
