Arcola City Council renews employee health insurance plan

Arcola City Council met Monday, March 6.

The Arcola City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month. Meetings are held at the Municipal Building, 114 N. Locust St.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ARCOLA CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Monday, March 06, 2017

Mayor Ferguson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Smith, Moore, Guyot, Foran and Huckstep. Alderwoman Key was not present.

City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Harvey and Attorney Bequette were also present.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Smith led the council and audience in the

Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT There was none.

APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY 21, 2017 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Foran moved to approve the February 21, 2017 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY 18 – MARCH 03, 2017 BILLS Alderwoman Moore moved to approve the February 18 – March 03, 2017 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE TREASURER’S REPORT FOR FEBRUARY Alderwoman Moore moved to approve the Treasurer’s report for February and was seconded by Alderwoman Huckstep. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF THE FEBRUARY ZONING OFFICER’S REPORT The Zoning Officer reported 1 permit issued with valuation of $11,250 and a $45 fee collected. Alderman

Foran moved to approve the February Zoning Officer’s report as presented and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

REPORT FROM THE TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Tourism Advisory Committee met February 16, 2017 reviewed and recommended the council approve a request from the Arcola Chamber of Commerce for a funding request in amount of $23,254.49 plus $1,300 a month for up to five years for marketing and promotion of the Raggedy Ann Museum. Alderwoman Moore moved to accept the recommendation of the Tourism Advisory Committee and was seconded by Alderman Guyot. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE REQUEST FROM STRIDES AGAINST HUNGER EVENT TO USE PUBLIC STREETS FOR 5K RACE Alderwoman Huckstep moved to approve a request from Strides Against Hunger Event to use public streets for 5K race. Alderman Smith seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE THE RENEWAL OF EMPLOYEE HEALTH INSURANCE WITH HEALTH ALLIANCE Alderman Smith moved to approve the renewal of Employee Health Insurance with Health Alliance. It is the same policy as last year with an 11% increase. Alderman Guyot seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE THE RENEWAL OF EMPLOYEE DENTAL INSURANCE WITH DELTA DENTAL Alderman Guyot moved to approve the renewal of Employee Dental Insurance with Delta Dental. It is the same policy and the same renewal rate. Alderwoman Huckstep seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Alderman Smith Had nothing at this time.

Alderwoman Moore Reported the Budget & Finance Committee met prior to this meeting and discussed the tourism report and also reviewed the proposed budget CA Wagoner has prepared.

Alderman Guyot Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Foran Had nothing at this time.

Alderwoman Huckstep Had nothing at this time.

As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderwoman Huckstep moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Council approved unanimously by voice vote.
