Tolono ranked 696th in state in lottery ticket sales for July 2016

The Village of Tolono had the 696th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of July 2016 -- up 47 spots from its June ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Tolono was $11.68 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the East Central Reporter, Tolono generated $40,618 in net sales from its two lottery retailers in July 2016, compared to $40,161 in July 2015.

The Village of Tolono is in Champaign County, and has a population of 3,479, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Savoy.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in July 2016 was $17,646.45.

Tolono's top lottery retailer is Caseys Gen Store #2558 located at 501 N Long St, Tolono, IL 61880.

Caseys Gen Store #2558 generated 85 percent of Tolono's July 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of Champaign County's sales that month, which was $1,905,817.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Champaign County in 2015 were Ogden, Gifford, Mahomet, Rantoul and Thomasboro.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
