Greenup ranked 112th in state in lottery ticket sales for June 2016

The Village of Greenup had the 112th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of June 2016 -- up 14 spots from its May ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Greenup was $33.47 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the East Central Reporter, Greenup generated $50,035.50 in net sales from its four lottery retailers in June 2016, compared to $63,700 in June 2015.

The Village of Greenup is in Cumberland County, and has a population of 1,495, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in June 2016 was $12,410.77.

Greenup's top lottery retailer is Jumpin Jimmys located at 110 N Haughton Hwy, Greenup, IL 62428.

Jumpin Jimmys generated 46 percent of Greenup's June 2016 lottery ticket sales and 21 percent of Cumberland County's sales that month, which was $111,697.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top three cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Cumberland County in 2015 were Greenup, Neoga and Toledo.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
