Tuscola City Council organizes 'Peanut's Day' fundraiser

The Tuscola City Council met Sept. 26 to organize the 'Peanut's Day' fundraiser.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

The Tuscola City Council meets at 7:30 p.m on the second and fourth Monday of every month. If a city-recognized holiday falls on those days, the meeting is rescheduled for the following Tuesday. The meetings are held at the Tuscola City Hall, 214 N. Main.

In the absence of Mayor Kleiss, Day moved and Shoemaker seconded Alderman Henderson act as Mayor Pro-Tem for the September 26 council meeting. VOTE YEA" Day, Shoemaker, Slaughter. Alderman Henderson abstained. Motion carried.

The regular meeting of the city Council was called to order with Day, Henderson, Shoemaker, and Slaughter in attendance. Mayor Kleiss and Aldermen Cleland, Hoey, and Truitt were absent. Mayor Pro-Tem Henderson led the Pledge of Allegiance.

I Financial report for August 2016

Payment of bills totaling $258,661.84 Hoel noted this amount includes the $150,000.00 technology grant payment to the Tuscola School District

Request from the Tuscola Kiwanis to hold their annual 'Peanut Days' fundraiser November 1112, 2016

Community Building lease with alcohol requests from Alan Shoemaker for the All School Reunion October 7, 2016, and Heather Brown for a Becky's Buddies fundraiser on November 5, 2016

Kiwanis paper shredding event on May 20, 2017 at Ervin Park

Day moved to approve the items on the consent agenda. Henderson seconded. VOTE YEA" Day, Henderson, Shoemaker, Slaughter. Day then moved to approve the consent agenda for September 26, 2016. Shoemaker seconded. VOTE YEA Day, Henderson, Shoemaker, Slaughter.

Mayor - No Report City Clerk - No Report

City Treasurer

Treasurer Long reported the TIF delinquencies are Eddie Boutilier, Red Barn Vet Services, and Rachel Puckett. Long noted partial payments have been received from Eddie Boutilier and the Red Barn Vet SerVices.

City Attorney - No Report

City Administrator Administrator Hoel extended the City's condolences to Alderman Henderson and family on the passing of his Mother-in-Law.

Other

1. Henderson moved to accept the resignation of Officer Cliff Ponder from the Tuscola Police Department. Slaughter seconded. VOTE YEA Day, Henderson, Shoemaker, Slaughter.

2. Day moved to approve the appointment of Tim Jimenez to the Tuscola Police Department as Patrol Officer I, effective September 26, 2016. Henderson seconded, Jimenez will be paid at the current rate for Patrol Officer, with no probationary period. VOTE YEA Day, Henderson, Shoemaker, Slaughter.

3. Slaughter moved to approve the appointments of Cliff Ponder and Lonnie Homann as part-time Patrol Officers with the Tuscola Police Department. Shoemaker seconded. Treasurer Long noted Lonnie Homann will be paid at the part-time policer officer rate; Cliff Ponder will be paid at his current rate. VOTE YEA* Day, Henderson, Shoemaker, Slaughter.

4. Henderson moved to set Trick or Treat hours as 5:30-7:30 pm on Monday, October 31. Day seconded. VOTE YEA" Day, Henderson, Shoemaker, Slaughter.

The motion to adjourn was made by Henderson and seconded by Shoemaker. VOTE YEA Day,

Henderson, Shoemaker, Slaughter.
