The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Oblong Community Unit School District #4 was held on May 16, 2016 in the Oblong Room. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Sparks with the following physically present: Pusey, Bailey, Higgins, Lewis, Musgrave, Pinkston, Sparks.
Recognition – OHS Math Team was recognized for their 4th place finish at state.

Motion by Bailey and seconded by Musgrave to adopt consent agenda items as presented. Roll call vote: Bailey - yea, Higgins - yea, Lewis -yea, Musgrave - yea, Pinkston - yea, Pusey - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried. Consent Agenda items: To approve regular, special and closed session minutes of April 18, 2016; financial report of April 2016; payment of May 2016 board bills; authorize Bookkeeper and Superintendent to prepare 2016-2017 budget.
Motion by Pusey and seconded by Lewis to approve the 2016-2017 Oblong CUSD #4 Coach's Handbook. Roll call vote: Higgins - yea, Lewis - yea, Musgrave - yea, Pinkston - yea, Pusey - yea, Bailey - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried.
Motion by Pusey and seconded by Bailey to approve 2015-2016 final school calendar. Roll call vote: Lewis - yea, Musgrave - yea, Pinkston - yea, Pusey - yea, Bailey - yea, Higgins - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried.
Motion by Pinkston and seconded by Musgrave to approve District fees for the 2016- 2017 school year. Roll call vote: Musgrave - yea, Pinkston - yea, Pusey - yea, Bailey - yea, Higgins - yea, Lewis - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried.
Motion by Higgins and seconded by Pinkston to adopt Section 125 IMRF Resolution. Roll call vote: Pinkston - yea, Pusey - yea, Bailey - yea, Higgins - yea, Lewis - yea, Musgrave - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried.
Motion by Bailey and seconded by Pusey to approve OHS Class of 2018 request to hold the 2017 Prom at the Oblong Elementary Gym on Saturday May 6, 2017. Roll call vote: Pusey - yea, Bailey - yea, Higgins - yea, Lewis - yea, Musgrave - yea, Pinkston - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried.
Motion by Pusey and seconded by Musgrave to tentatively approve policies updates. Roll call vote: Bailey - yea, Higgins - yea, Lewis - yea, Musgrave - yea, Pinkston - yea, Pusey - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried.
Motion by Higgins and seconded by Lewis to approve FFA officer's request to attend the Illinois FFA Convention in Springfield, IL., June 14-16, 2016 as presented. Roll call vote: Higgins - yea, Lewis - yea, Musgrave - yea, Pinkston - yea, Pusey - yea, Bailey - yea, Sparks - yea. Motion carried.
