The Mattoon City Council gathered for a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7.
The Mattoon City Council consists of four members and the mayor, who acts as the city's CEO. Council meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 208 N. 19th St.

Items listed on the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine in nature and will be enacted by one motion. No
separate discussion of these items will occur unless a Council Member requests the item to be removed from the

this meeting. Prior to asking for a motion to approve the Consent Agenda, the Mayor will ask if anyone desires to

been identified on this agenda, but the Council may direct staff to address the topic or refer the matter for action on
the agenda for another meeting. Persons addressing the Council are requested to limit their presentations to three
minutes and to avoid repetitious comments. We would ask you to state your name for the record as well as stand when

1. Motion – Adopt Resolution No. 2016-2968: Establishing the prevailing rate of wages in the Coles County Area
as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor as the wages that must apply to public works of the City of
Mattoon consistent with mandates of Illinois statute. (Graven)
2. Motion – Adopt Special Ordinance No. 2016-1626: Granting a variance to fence height allowing an eight foot
privacy fence along the west side of the property located at 4840 Carter Lane. Tom Burritt- Petitioner (Gover)
3. Motion – Adopt Special Ordinance No. 2016-1627: Approving a two-year contract renewal of the collective
bargaining agreement with the Mattoon Firefighters Association, Local 691, IAFF, AFL-CIO. (Hall)
4. Motion – Approve Council Decision Request 2016-1692: Accepting the FY15 FEMA Assistance to Firefighters
Grant in the amount of $300,000 towards the acquisition of a new Rescue Pumper. (Hall) EMW-2015-FV-01268
