The St. Joseph Township-Swearingen Memorial Library board recently met to present updates.
Policy, prizes and program performance were on the agenda for the St. Joseph Township-Swearingen Memorial Library board members at their meeting on Jan. 21 in St. Joseph Township.
Treasurer Andrew Schaefer presented his report, indicating that the township account balance stood at $38,280.11 as of Jan. 21. The board approved Schaefer’s report, along with minutes from its previous meeting.
Librarian Susan McKinney announced that several ongoing programs were performing well, including adult coloring time and the winter used book sale; additionally, a new clerk was hired to work part-time.
McKinney requested and won the board’s approval to close the library during carpet installation during the week of March 21, then reviewed staff schedules, including changes that went into effect as of Jan. 1.
Having won a recent caption contest, McKinney also revealed that she won 10 MP3 audio books for the library.
Secretary Geni Roark presented a newly updated bereavement policy stipulating that all employees are eligible for up to five days of leave, depending on the circumstances, with the reminder that all other time off must be approved by the librarian or the board. The group carried the motion with minor grammatical corrections.
Roark read a thank-you note concerning a recent donation, made in memory of resident Donald McKinney, prior to adjournment.
