The Robinson Public Library District board of trustees met Jan. 16 at the Robinson Public Library to expedite repairs and remediation following water damage from heavy rains in late December.

The library’s Newlin Hallway was flooded after the deluge of rain on Dec. 28. Staff diligently cleaned up the standing water and contacted one of its established vendors, Tony Droste of Droste Concrete Company, to see what could be done. Additionally, ServPro was called to spray a preventative mold chemical to further protect the premises.

Damages were not limited to the floor surface; staffers also called on Jim Munson to fix a leak in the building’s skylight after they noticed a leak coming from the roof. Thirdly, after the flood, it was discovered that the baseboard heater had failed. Upon inspection by Goff’s for possible repairs, the library was advised to replace the heater.

Staffer Breyanna Weaver reported that Graber’s ordered roofing supplies and will be on the job soon. Droste canvassed the scene and called for a JULIE assessment, now completed.

Fortunately, the elevator is operational again.

Financial business from December 2015 was processed; the trustees reviewed all monthly reports; and the board approved its revised budget for FY2016 and passed a motion “that the Robinson Public Library District approves the transfer of OverDrive titles to 3M” after brief discussion. The next meeting was scheduled for 8 a.m. Feb. 20.
