The Wall Street Journal has called attention to what it describes as hypocrisy among Illinois Democrats, who have spoken out against gerrymandering while continuing to approve electoral maps that the publication characterizes as some of the most gerrymandered in the country.

A recent interview brought further scrutiny when Governor J.B. Pritzker appeared on Stephen Colbert’s show and joked that a kindergarten class had drawn the Illinois map, referring to it as his independent commission. The exchange highlighted ongoing debates over how district boundaries are drawn in Illinois.

Miller, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 101st House District, replacing previous state representative Reggie Phillips.
