Eastern Illinois University announced on Apr. 7 that men’s swimming seniors Nolan Wallace and Carson Hughes have been named to the Academic All-District team by College Sports Communicators.
This recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both academically and in their sport. To be eligible, candidates must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5, with graduate students required to meet this standard for both undergraduate and graduate coursework. Additionally, athletes must either participate in at least 90 percent of their team’s competitions or start in at least two-thirds of them. Each school may nominate up to four student-athletes who meet these requirements.
Wallace holds a 3.93 GPA in Construction Management, while Hughes has achieved a 3.88 GPA in Exercise Science – Pre-Physical Therapy.
The Academic All-District Swimming & Diving Teams are selected by College Sports Communicators and recognize top student-athletes nationwide for their achievements both in the classroom and during competition. The program also includes separate recognition for NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA divisions through the CSC Academic All-America program.
Those named as Academic All-District honorees will be considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team honorees are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
