HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital will host an open house for its new Center for Pediatric Therapy on Thursday, November 13, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The event will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m., in partnership with the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce.
The new center is located at 904 Medical Park Drive in Effingham. At 4,600 square feet, it is described as the first comprehensive pediatric therapy facility serving Effingham, Coles, and neighboring counties. The center aims to provide specialized care for children with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, developmental delays, traumatic brain injuries, and other congenital conditions.
Visitors to the open house can participate in guided tours of the facility and meet members of the therapy team to learn about available programs and services. Family activities are planned that highlight amenities like a climbing rock wall and adaptive playground. Light refreshments will be served, and attendees can enter a drawing for a JBL Bluetooth speaker.
Therapies offered include pediatric pelvic floor therapy, intensive sessions using the Universal Exercise Unit (SpiderCage), TOT Savvy for tongue ties, sensory processing interventions, augmentative and alternative communication support, and advanced pediatric feeding therapy.
Tammy Probst, Rehab and Wellness Director at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital said: "We're thrilled to bring this specialized center to our region – there's nothing else like it in Effingham, Coles or the surrounding counties. Families no longer have to travel hours for the specialized pediatric therapy their children need. By offering treatment in a child-friendly environment designed to accommodate their age, developmental stage and therapeutic requirements, we can help kids thrive right here in their own community."
The Center for Pediatric Therapy adds to HSHS St. Anthony’s Rehab and Wellness offerings that already include adult therapy services at Richard E. Workman Sports Complex as well as therapies provided at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Altamont.
