State Representative Adam Niemerg has raised concerns about drug smuggling into Illinois prisons. On Wednesday, Niemerg sent a letter to Governor JB Pritzker, urging action to enhance safety for correctional officers and inmates.
Niemerg highlighted incidents where employees or inmates were exposed to drugs. He claims that drugs are entering prisons through paper mail laced with substances sent to inmates.
To address the issue, Niemerg is requesting the state to invest in copy machines.
