Illinois State House District 109 issued the following announcement on Aug. 8.
State Representative Darren Bailey is pleased with the turnout at this year’s Senior Health and Information Fair held at the Effingham National Guard Armory. The event was co-hosted with Reps. Blaine Wilhour and Brad Halbrook and Senators Dale Righter, Jason Plummer and Chapin Rose.
Over 50 service organizations, state offices and health care providers were on hand to educate senior citizens on programs and services available to them.
“I am pleased that we had over 50 vendors, services and state offices represented to help senior citizens understand their rights and connect with services to help make their lives better,” said Rep. Darren Bailey who represents half of Effingham County in his 109th District. “What a wonderful opportunity for our older population to receive health tests for things like high blood pressure or diabetes and work with government offices like the State Treasurer to find out if they have a property claim owed to them from the state.”
This annual free Senior Health and Information Fair was held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the National Guard Armory located at 1206 W. Temple Avenue. No registration or entrance fee was required. All attendees were entered into a drawing for door prizes.
