When a bill is introduced to the House, the clerk reads the bill title and it is automatically referred to the Rules Committee. If the Rules Committee thinks that the bill merits further consideration, it is assigned to another committee. In this case, the bill was assigned to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is a standing committee of the Illinois House of Representatives.
The bill, as it was introduced in the House by Rep. Darren Bailey (R-109) on Jan. 28, "makes application to Congress under the provisions of Article V of the Constitution of the United States for the calling of a convention of the states limited to proposing amendments to the Constitution of the United States that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government and limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government," according to the General Assembly website.
The following house representative also co-sponsored the bill: Chris Miller (R-110).
The table below shows a history of actions for this bill through Feb. 13.
