Former state university employee Aryainejad paid in $104K to pension fund, could collect $3.14M in retirement

Former state university employee Sirus Aryainejad, who retired in June 2017, saved $103,853 toward a pension over 31 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Aryainejad would collect as much as $3.14 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes East Central Reporter.

The projection assumes Aryainejad received $65,977 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Aryainejad will have already received $133,933 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
