Watson FPD responds to 16 fires in 2017

Watson Fire Protection District responded to 23 calls in 2017 - 91.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Watson included 16 fires - four structure fires, one vehicle fire and 11 other fires.

In all, the department saw $127,800 in fire loss - or about $7,988 per fire.

The department also received seven false calls.

The Watson Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $101,917 in 2017.
