Tolono Public Library board prepares for Fun Day.
Trustees on Tolono’s Public Library district board met March 1 at 111 E. Main St. to discuss policy updates and make plans for Tolono’s annual Fun Day.
The board invited public comment early in the meeting before approving minutes, bills payable and reports. New business touched on continuing education and confirmation of the trustees’ next meeting set for April 5.
In pending business, the board discussed Tolono’s next Fun Day, scheduled for June 24 and 25 -- expanding from one to two days this year. Highlights will include a 5k race and golf cart raffle. The Tolono Twilight Trek 5k is slated for 7 p.m. June 24, with awards planned for top male and female racers.
A total of 1,000 tickets for the golf cart raffle prize will be available for purchase at various Tolono locations including Traxside, Tolono Busey Bank, Monical's Pizza of Tolono and Premier Coop, with the drawing to take place after the parade June 25. Proceeds will benefit the festival.
Also this year, citizens will have a chance to voice their input about film screening choices, with a movie to be scheduled for Friday night following the 5k awards.
The Tolono Public Library offers resources to improve the quality of life for all district residents. Serving Sadorus, Savoy and Tolono, the 7,500-square-foot library was built in 1997, supported by private bequests and a construction grant.
Regular board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., with the exception of December.
