St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield announced on Mar. 13 that it is holding a Comfort for Kids Stuffed Animal and Blanket Drive to support young patients during their hospital stays.
The hospital said it is running low on stuffed animals and blankets, which are given to children to provide comfort during difficult times. The drive aims to restock these items with help from the community, offering a way for residents to brighten a child’s day and support families facing challenges.
Donations will be accepted through April 3, 2026. Items can be dropped off at two locations: Rep. Brad Halbrook’s District Office in Shelbyville at 203 N. Cedar St., open Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon, and the Effingham office at 304 E. Jefferson Ave, Suite A, open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Halbrook, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 107th House District, replacing previous state representative Blaine Wilhour according to Ballotpedia.
Community members with questions about the drive can contact Rep. Halbrook at 217-342-0220.
