Sarah Bush Lincoln announced on March 11 that it will host a free workshop titled “Digital Discernment: Creating a tech-ready home in the AI age” to help families create safer digital environments for children.
The event aims to address concerns about children’s online safety and provide practical tools for parents and caregivers. The session is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, April 14, at The Fields Church location in the Cross County Mall, located at 700 Broadway Ave. East in Mattoon. Parking will be available at the back of the mall.
Chris McKenna will present the 90-minute session, which is open to parents and caring adults at no cost. Sarah Bush Lincoln expressed gratitude to Linda K. Keeler for sponsoring the event. Attendees can expect light refreshments and opportunities to win tech-related raffle prizes.
The workshop will cover topics such as why routers are important parenting tools, alternatives to parental controls, understanding the “Toxic Trio,” and insights into teen use of artificial intelligence companions. Organizers said no registration is required for participation.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by Sarah Bush Lincoln to support community education around technology use and child safety.
