In the week ending Mar. 7, one gas station in Effingham County sold diesel gas at the lowest reported price of $3.58 per gallon, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
Countywide, diesel gas averaged $4.11 per gallon.
Of the 27 reported gas stations located within Effingham County, 17 offered diesel gas.
Across Illinois, the average reported price for a gallon of diesel gas rose to $4.26, compared to the week before.
U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
