Illinois Democrats have approved an energy package that includes significant incentives for battery-storage companies. Critics say the costs of these measures will fall on Illinois families.
Some, including members of the state legislature, argue that Illinois should focus on reliable and affordable energy solutions rather than subsidies for certain industries. “We can’t afford another reckless green-energy experiment. Illinois needs reliable, affordable, commonsense energy solutions — not politically driven handouts that drive our bills even higher,” a statement from the opposition reads.
Brad Halbrook, a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 representing the 107th District and replacing Blaine Wilhour, has voiced concerns about the impact of such policies on residents.
