Eastern Illinois University was named the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship, according to a May 3 announcement. The championship will take place from May 6 to May 9 at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria, Illinois.

The tournament field includes eight teams: Eastern Illinois, UT Martin as the No. 2 seed, SIUE at No. 3, Lindenwood at No. 4, Southeast Missouri at No. 5, Southern Indiana at No. 6, Tennessee Tech at No. 7 and Western Illinois as the eighth seed.

This marks the third consecutive year that Eastern Illinois has earned both the regular season title and top seeding in the tournament after winning its third straight conference championship. Last year, Eastern Illinois won the OVC Tournament and secured its second-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The event is being held for a third time at a neutral site in Peoria and all games will be streamed on ESPN+. The opening day features single elimination games between Southern Indiana and Tennessee Tech followed by Southeast Missouri versus Western Illinois before moving into double elimination rounds.

The championship schedule runs through Saturday with a possible final game if necessary after Game 12. All times are listed in Central Time.
