Eastern Illinois University’s men’s golf team will divide into two groups for upcoming competitions at the Murray State Racer Intercollegiate and the Tennessee State Big Blue Intercollegiate, both scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, April 6-7.
The Panthers will participate in two separate 54-hole tournaments. The Murray State event is set at the Country Club of Paducah, a par-72 course measuring 7,014 yards. Meanwhile, the Tennessee State tournament will be held at Hermitage Golf Club, which features a par-71 layout spanning 6,670 yards.
This marks Eastern Illinois’ third tournament of the spring season. In their previous outing at the Morehead State Keene Trace Collegiate, the Panthers secured second place. Cole Jaworski and Jack Yewchuk each tied for tenth place individually during that event. Alex Siatos recorded Eastern Illinois’ lowest round with a one-under-par score of 71 in the second round.
Freshman Luke Watson currently leads Eastern Illinois in season stroke average with a mark of 75.1. He is followed by Siatos at an average of 75.9 strokes per round. Ian Hollander holds the team’s best individual finish this season after tying for second place at the Chicago State Windy City Classic.
Competing teams in Murray State’s tournament include host Murray State as well as Austin Peay, Belmont, Bradley, Chattanooga, Dayton, Lindenwood, Morehead State, North Dakota State, SIUE (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville), Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU), Southern Indiana University (USI), Tennessee Tech and UT Martin alongside Eastern Illinois. At Tennessee State’s event—where only individual Panther golfers will compete—the field features Alabama A&M University; Alabama State; Arkansas Pine Bluff; Florida A&M; Jackson State; John A. Logan College; Miles College; Parkland College; Prairie View A&M; Tennessee Tech; UMass and UT Martin.
