Eastern Illinois University’s men’s golf team competed in two separate tournaments during the week of April 7, splitting its roster between the Murray State Racer Intercollegiate and the Tennessee State Big Blue Intercollegiate.
The main group participated in the Murray State event at the Country Club of Paducah in Kentucky, finishing tied for 14th place after three rounds. Alex Siatos led Eastern Illinois at this tournament with a total score of 227 over 54 holes, tying for 59th place. Siatos opened and closed his play with rounds of 75. Senior Cole Jaworski also finished strong, carding a final round of 75 on Tuesday to tie for 74th overall with a total score of 232.
Jack Roche and Luke Watson each completed the event with scores of 234, tying them both for 78th place. Roche’s best round was a 76 on Monday morning, while Watson posted his lowest score—a matching 76—on Monday afternoon. Ian Hollander rounded out Eastern Illinois’ participants at Murray State by tying for 83rd after shooting a combined score of 236 across three rounds.
Chattanooga claimed both the team championship and individual medalist honors through Evan Rogers at the Murray State competition.
Meanwhile, four other Panthers golfers played at Tennessee State’s Big Blue Intercollegiate on Hermitage Golf Club’s President’s Reserve Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee. Reis Claybrooke led this group by scoring a combined total of 227 to tie for 47th place; his best round was an opening-day score of 74. Trey Oswald followed closely behind, finishing tied for 54th after shooting a low round of 75 and totaling a score of 228 over three days.
Jack Yewchuk recorded Eastern Illinois’ lowest single-round score among all competitors—a final-round tally of just three-over-par (73) on Tuesday—helping him finish tied for 56th with an overall mark of 229. Michael Madayag placed 77th with a cumulative score of 246; his best effort came Monday afternoon when he shot a round of 78.
Florida A&M won the team title at Tennessee State’s event while Robert Woods from Alabama State and Quincy Robert from Tennessee State shared individual medalist honors.
