Agri-Fab of Sullivan has donated $30,000 to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation’s Expanding Hope Campaign to help expand the Regional Cancer Center, according to an April 8 announcement.
The donation is intended to support improvements in local cancer care and meet growing needs for treatment. Community contributions like this play a role in expanding access and facilities for patients and families facing cancer.
“This donation ties into our values,” said Deacon Patient, President of Agri-Fab. “At Agri-Fab, we are all about community, and this Cancer Center is important to our community. We all know someone who has been affected by cancer. I am personally inspired by these three employees who have battled cancer at Sarah Bush Lincoln.”
Three Agri-Fab employees—Cheryl Schisler, Caralea Smith and Bill Shain—who received care at the SBL Regional Cancer Center were present with Patient as well as Kim Uphoff, President and CEO of Sarah Bush Lincoln, and Amy Card, Director of the Foundation. Their experiences highlight the value of local treatment options.
“We are incredibly grateful to Agri-Fab for this generous gift,” said Amy Card. “Their support reflects a deep commitment to the health and well-being of our community and will help us continue meeting the growing needs of patients and families facing cancer.”
Since opening in 2016 with 17 infusion bays, the center has seen annual visits increase from 56,000 in 2020 to more than 104,000 last year. The planned $17.2 million expansion will add 15,000 square feet—including new chemotherapy infusion bays (increasing total capacity from its original size), expanded treatment areas, eight additional exam rooms, a larger waiting room and more parking space. There will also be dedicated space for non-oncology medical infusions.
