Analysis: Flora administrators rank 635th in state for average pay

Administrators in Flora Community Unit School District 35 earn an average of $90,870 per year, ranking 635th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 11.4 percent higher than in 2016 and 10.5 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 18.4 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Flora School District in Clay County enrolled 1347 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 207 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
