City of Tuscola City Council met December 28

City of Tuscola City Council met Dec. 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order with Brace (virtual), Day (virtual), Hoey (virtual), Morris (virtual), Rund (virtual), Shoemaker (virtual), Slaughter, and Mayor Kleiss in attendance. Alderwoman Waldrop was absent. Mayor Kleiss led the Pledge of Allegiance 

Public Comment - None 

Consent Agenda 

Mayor Kleiss went over the items on the consent agenda: 

» Minutes of the December 14, 2020 meeting 

Financial reports for November 2020 - 

Payment of bills totaling $268,738,70 

Day moved to approve the items on the consent agenda. Brace seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter. Rund moved to approve the consent agenda for December 28, 2020. Shoemaker seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter. 

Requested Time on the Agenda - None 

Mayor 

Mayor Kleiss tabled the firefighter service recognition in hopes the firefighters would return from a call before the end of the meeting. 

Kleiss read a note from Paul Wisovaty thanking the city for their help with the red kettle collections at Sav-Mor on Saturday, December 19, Wisovaty felt the Salvation Army did pretty well this year. 

Judi Pollock, Douglas County Clerk, wrote to thank the city for the use of the Community Building as the polling place for the November 3 election. Pollock included extra funds in the county's payment for building cleaning expenses.

City Treasurer 

Treasurer Long reported Eddie Boutilier and Red Barn Veterinary Services are delinquent on their TIF loans 

City Attorney - Absent 

City Administrator - No Report 

Other 

Day moved to approve the appointment of Todd Ray as Assistant Fire Chief. 

Slaughter seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter. Slaughter moved to approve a promotion and pay increase for Officer Dakota Mohr. Effective December 28, 2020, Mohr's classification will be Patrol Officer | @ $21.87 per hour. Rund seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter. 

Mayor Kleiss wished all a Happy New Year, adding he hopes 2021 will be a better year than 2020! 

The motion to adjourn was made by, Slaughter and seconded by Day. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter.
