Unpaid fines for Charleston-based campaign committees totaled $10,700 in January 2017

Campaign committees in Charleston collectively owe a total of $10,700 in overdue fees, records obtained by the East Central Reporter show.

A detailed review of individual fines revealed that two committees in Charleston were delinquent in payment for January 2017.

The Charleston-based committee with the largest total in unpaid fines was Citizens for Michael Stopka, which owes a total of $5,700.

The largest fine that Citizens for Michael Stopka has yet to pay was imposed on Nov. 18, 2015, for a late quarterly report. The amount of this fine alone is $4,275.

The following table lists all campaign committees in Charleston owing unpaid fines in January 2017, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections:
